What's roaming?

Roaming means using your smartphone when you're abroad to call, text, surf, receive calls or text messages, regardless of the recipient's location.

How is roaming charged?

In Europe:

  • Using roaming with your DIGI Mobile subscription in a member country of the European Union is the same as if you were using it in Belgium.
  • Please find the list of countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden

Outside Europe:

  • Check roaming tariffs
  • Data Roaming Alert: to protect you from excessive surcharges, a data roaming alert is set to 60,50€ VAT incl. when you're abroad. The connection will be blocked as soon as the defined limit is reached. You can then either stop calling, sending SMS and surfing or extend your limit for the current billing cycle (by using MyDIGI App). If so, your connection will then be automatically reopened

In which countries can I travel free of charge?

In the European Economic Area, including

  • Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.
  • Warning: Switzerland and Andorra are not part of the European Union. Roaming is not free there. If you are traveling to or transiting through these countries, we advise you to deactivate your roaming.

Why and how to disable roaming?

To avoid any additional costs when you are outside the European Economic Area, we recommend that you deactivate roaming on your phone.

Deactivate roaming on an Android smartphone

  • Go to your smartphone settings
  • Click on the "Connections" icon
  • Select "Mobile networks"
  • Activate or deactivate data roaming by clicking, selecting or dragging the slider, depending on the model and your needs.

  • Go to Settings
  • Select "Cellular data" and check that cellular data is set to "Active".
  • Then click on "Options" and activate or deactivate data abroad as required.

What are value-added services in Europe?

How do I transfer my contacts to another SIM card?

The first thing to do is to identify where your contacts are currently stored. To do this, simply consult your mobile phone's settings. If your contacts are stored :

  • in the cloud: Great news! Simply insert your new SIM card and your contacts will automatically synchronize.
  • on your phone: In this case, you're all set too! You can change your SIM card and your contacts will be automatically available.
  • on your SIM card: You'll need to back up your contacts before changing SIM cards, by following the steps below.

How do I back up my contacts?

The most widespread backup method is the cloud, i.e. saving your data online. It's simple, secure and offers many advantages. To make life easier for you, we've compiled below the procedures to follow, depending on your smartphone and mobile operating system:

  • If you have an iPhone, click here.
  • If you have an Android smartphone, click here.

Once you've done this, you'll have an up-to-date copy of your contacts on iCloud if you have an iPhone, in your Gmail account if you use an Android smartphone, or in your Outlook account if you have Windows Phone. You can then switch SIM cards in total security.

Where can I find my PIN code?

Your PIN code is on the card to which your SIM was attached

How do I change my PIN code?

Most mobile phones allow you to change the PIN code directly in the phone menu. Your mobile phone's user manual will help you with this.

How do I block my SIM card?

If your SIM card is lost or stolen and you wish to block it, follow the procedure below:

  • Go to MyDIGI
  • Go to Block my SIM card on the homepage
  • Select the mobile number linked to the lost or stolen SIM card
  • Click on Confirm
  • Your SIM card is blocked
  • You will automatically receive a new SIM card

My SIM card is blocked after I entered 3 wrong PIN codes. How can I unblock it?

You have entered the wrong PIN code 3 times and your SIM card is locked.

You need to enter the PUK code to unlock your SIM card. Follow the procedure below:

  • Go to MyDIGI
  • Go to SIM card locked on the homepage
  • Select the mobile number with the locked SIM card
  • The PUK code is displayed
  • Enter the PUK code on your phone, the SIM card is unlocked. Your mobile phone will then ask you to enter and confirm your new PIN code.
  • Important information: Both PIN and PUK codes are used to protect the SIM card. Never pass these codes on to third parties.
  • Warning: After 10 erroneous PUK codes on the same SIM card, it will be permanently out of service and will have to be replaced.

What should I do if my SIM card is damaged?

If your SIM card is damaged and you need to exchange it, follow the procedure below:

  • Contact the DIGI Customer Care
  • A new SIM card will be sent to you by post.
  • Please note that when you exchange your SIM card, you keep your mobile phone number.
  • Note: Your PIN and PUK codes are on the card to which your SIM is attached

My SIM card isn't working properly, what should I do?

Check the positioning of your SIM card

The problem may be due to poor contact between your device and the SIM card. Remove the SIM card and replace it correctly. Then switch your device off and on again.

Check your mobile phone

If you can, insert your SIM card in another mobile phone to make sure that the card is actually damaged or faulty.

If your SIM card doesn't work even when inserted in another mobile phone, you may need to replace it. Follow the procedure below:

  • Contact the DIGI Customer Care
  • A new SIM card will be sent to you by post.
  • Please note that when you exchange your SIM card, you keep your mobile phone number.

I've inserted my SIM card but I can't get a network

If you have inserted your DIGI Mobile SIM card but the network does not appear after 24 hours (72 hours in the case of a number ported from another operator), switch your phone off and on again.

If it still doesn't work, insert your SIM card in another phone. Wait a few minutes to see if the network is detected on this other device. If so, you can reinsert your SIM card into your phone.

I don't have an Internet connection on my phone; what should I do?

Check that your mobile phone is not in airplane mode

  • In airplane mode, access to the network is blocked, which is why you can't connect to mobile Internet.

Check if you have a network

  • If you can't connect, check that you have a network. To do this, try calling someone or sending a message. If this doesn't work, you may not have a network where you are. Try moving around, or even outside the building you're in, to get a better network, and try again to connect to the mobile Internet.
  • If the problem persists, contact the DIGI Customer Care

Attention: Travelling to the USA? Frequencies 2 and 3G are no longer available there, so it's normal that you won't be able to connect to the network.

  • Use wifi whenever possible.
  • Get an American prepaid SIM card. There are vending machines in all airports.
  • Use an eSIM, if your smartphone is compatible.

Can't make or receive a mobile call? Or can't send or receive an SMS?

Check network quality

  • To do this, look at the number of network bars visible on your mobile phone's screen. The number of bars indicates the quality of the network. If there are only one or two bars, the network quality is not good.
  • It's possible that in certain buildings or locations the network quality is less good, or that you have no network at all, which may prevent you from receiving or making calls properly. Check whether you can receive or make calls by moving around or outside the building.

Check whether your mobile phone is faulty.

  • If possible, insert your SIM card in another mobile phone. Check that you can make and receive calls correctly with this other mobile phone.
  • If you can make and receive calls with this second mobile phone, the problem is with your mobile phone, not the SIM card.

Other reasons:

  • Due to overage, calls and messages to certain numbers may be blocked. Check your usage status on MyDIGI
  • It's also possible that your subscription has been cut off if you haven't paid your invoices or payment reminders.
  • If the problem persists, please contact the DIGI Customer Care.
